New In This Release
Customers have been asking for the ability for more sophisticated messages around when and where a SmartPin is created, updated, or deleted. For example, before your Technician creates a Live Wire SmartPin, you may want to remind him of the Live Wire SOP. The SOP may include the phone number of the electric company, which of course may vary based on the location/jurisdiction the SmartPin is being created in. So we are introducing SmartPin Instructions, available from the configuration menu in the upper right hand corner of the portal, as seen in the screenshot below.
SmartPin instructions allow you to provide your employees with useful information depending on what the type of the SmartPin is (Live Wire, Broken Pole), what is being done (Create, Update, Delete), where the SmartPin is (Massachusetts, New Hampshire) and who is performing the operation (Electrician, Fulfillment Technician). You create the messages that you want, and they will be displayed in a tabular format (below) to help you understand what messages will be seen by what users.
For example, in the table below, you can see that before a Broken Pole SmartPin is created by a user with any role in any jurisdiction, a message will be displayed by the mobile app. To see the message, just tap on the Broken Pole link or click the edit button on the right hand side of that row. When there are multiple messages that will satisfy the rules the Priority field is used to determine the correct order of the messages.
In the image below, you can see how to create a new Instruction. Every instruction is named. The instruction can display either before or after the desired action. The action that causes the instruction to be displayed can be a Create, Update, Delete, or Complete. The priority field is used to order multiple instructions that satisfy the current conditions. Zero, one, or more types of SmartPins may be chosen. Zero, one, or more App Roles may be chosen. Zero, one, or more Jurisdictions may be chosen.
A simple HTML editor is provided to create the text of the instruction with simple formatting.
The screenshot below shows a sample instruction for a Live Wire SOP that will be displayed before the Live Wire SmartPin is created in the NH jurisdiction. The instruction itself is simple with a reminder to call 911 and the electric company for that jurisdiction.
It is possible to configure multiple instructions that will satisfy the current conditions. Note the two instructions below. Both will be shown before an Engineer in NH creates a Live Wire. The higher priority instruction will be shown first. If the user is a Technician in Massachusetts, only the top Instruction will be shown before creating a Live Wire.
Tokenized Emails in Email Groups
Previously, the Emails in an Email Group were a comma separated list of values (CSV). But this leads to some unintentional misconfigurations with trailing commas and other mistakes. So now we tokenize the email addresses in the email group in an effort to minimize misconfigurations and mistakes.
Fixed In This Release
Two Factor Authentication Bugs
Last release, we rolled out two factor authentication for portal users. Unfortunately, we did have some bugs that resulted in a small subset of users being enabled for two factor authentication. We have fixed all known issues with two factor authentication both on the individual portal users and the customer setting.
