New In This Release
Discontinuing Support for Microsoft Internet Explorer
Microsoft released Edge as the browser to supersede Internet Explorer (IE) in 2015. Since then, IE has not received major updates, or added support for many modern web standards. Microsoft discourages the use of Internet Explorer as a default browser.
To allow Nrby to continue to take advantage of modern web standards not supported by IE, we have decided to end support for all versions Internet Explorer for new features. New features will make no special effort to support any version of Internet Explorer. Moving forward, supported browsers will include Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari.
Parent Identifier Attributes are now Case Insensitive
Let’s say you have a SmartPin type, Node Maintenance, with an Attribute named NodeName with a value of Node1. And you field technician creates a new task for that Node Maintenance and manually types in a NodeName of node1. Back in the old days, the new task would not show up under the Node1 SmartPin because ‘Node1’ does not equal ‘node1’. But now that parent identifier attributes are case insensitive, ‘Node1’ is the same as ‘node1’ and the task will show up under the Node1 SmartPin.
Making Dashboard Notifications more Noticeable
In the previous release, dashboard notifications displayed a message within the dashboard window. This behavior is preserved with the default ‘Show Notification’ option below for the Notify Dashboard choices.
Now there are more options to make the message more noticeable. A popup notification from the browser can be displayed. The title of the browser window or tab now changes and scrolls the message from the dashboard notification (One -> Two below). A sound will also play if configured to do so.
The screenshot below captures the popup notification, the title of the browser changing, and the normal notification. On some browsers, when the sound plays, a speaker icon will appear in the title tab of the browser as well. Refer to the documentation for the various browsers on how to enable the popup notifications and the sound.
Fixed In This Release
Default SmartPin Radius is now 0
When you create a new type of SmartPin, one of the fields is radius. This sets the default radius for all new SmartPins of this type. We used to default the value to 150 meters, the minimum iOS geofence radius. We changed this and now we default the value to be 0 meters.
Confirmation before Dismiss All Notifications
There is not a confirmation dialog when the Dismiss All option is chosen for dashboard notifications.
