New In This Release
Attributes can now be marked ‘Persistent’. Persistent Attributes will maintain their current value when being edited. If the persistent checkbox on an Attribute is not checked, the current behavior of clearing the Attribute value when editing will maintained.
Persistent Attributes can be used to gather information about a SmartPin that will not frequently, if ever, change. In the screenshot below, we anticipate that the NodeName of the Node will not be changing very often, so we mark the attribute Persistent.
If the Attribute is part of a State Machine, each transition to a new type of SmartPin must have the Attribute defined in it. For example, if my state machine involves the Node – Normal, Node – Maintenance, Node – Assigned, and Node – Completed SmartPin types, the NodeName Attribute must be defined in each SmartPin type to maintain it’s value through the transitions. Luckily, Attributes in a SmartPin definition can be ordered, so if you want the persistent Attributes always on the top of the list or always on the bottom of the list for the mobile user, just put them in the right order on the SmartPin definition on the dashboard.
One potential use of persistent attributes is to crowd-source fixed assets. Create your Node or Generator SmartPin definitions with Attributes like NodeName, PowerSupplyType, NodeBandwidth, GeneratorPower, etc. As your field personnel discover the assets, they drop SmartPins and fill in the required information. That information will be persisted and available in the future as you implement processes around the SmartPins.
We changed the behavior of the dashboard Search capability. This also applies to the newly released mobile apps, which support SmartPin searching from the map view. Searches used to be an exact match of the entire word (with the occasional exception around plural words). Now, searches are a prefix match. Now, when you type ‘broke’ into the search box, it will match ‘Broken Primary Bracket’ and ‘Broken Pedestal’ SmartPins.

View deleted SmartPin details from the SmartPin by Age report
In the SmartPin by Age report, you can choose to view Deleted SmartPins in the list of SmartPins by checking the Deleted box at the top of the report. Even though the SmartPin name was still blue and looked like a link, you could not successfully view the SmartPin details by clicking that link. We fixed that and now the details of a deleted SmartPin can be viewed by clicking the blue link name of the deleted SmartPin.
